Hey, here's a big cuppa Hope 'N Change for you!
The U.S. government -- that's you and me, fellow taxpayers! -- is already potentially on the hook for up to $24 TRILLION due to the financial bailouts alone.
Wheee!! Up to $24 TRILLION with a "T." Awesome!
The federal government has devoted $4.7 trillion to help the financial sector through its crisis, a watchdog report said Monday.
Under the worst of circumstances, the report said, the government's maximum exposure could total nearly $24 trillion, or $80,000 for every American.
The figures are part of a tough new quarterly report to Congress from special inspector general Neil Barofsky, who accuses the Treasury Department of repeatedly failing to adopt recommendations aimed at making one component of the government financial rescue effort more accountable and transparent.
Can you BELIEVE the Hope 'N Change? Bailout exposure alone of $80,000 dollars for every man, woman and child in the country! That's BEFORE we get to the "stimulus," cap 'n trade, and a mammoth health care takeover.
It's a good thing Obama believes in fiscal responsibility, or we'd be in trouble!
Normally, I'd consider a financial exposure greater than the entire gross domestic product of the United States a bad thing. (The nation’s entire gross domestic product was $14.2 trillion in 2008.)
But hey -- that's was before Hope 'N Change. There was a time when I didn't understand the whole rainbows and unicorns thing.
Now I'm seeing unicorns. Lots of unicorns. 24 TRILLION of 'em!
Ah, what a blessed utopia Obama and Democrats in Congress have ushered in!
It's all Monopoly money anyway, right? Or it will be soon . . . .
