The Wall Street Journal explains it better than I could: The 'Absentee' Senator
The problem extends far beyond the state of Minnesota.
Democrats have shamelessly opposed voter identification requirements and have encouraged and lavishly funded groups like ACORN that have been charged with voter registration fraud around the country.
When you combine some or all of the following: (1) fraudulent and last-minute voter registration, (2) widespread use of absentee ballots with no showing of necessity for such a measure, (3) total absence of voter I.D. checks when ballots are cast, and (4) courts and officials allowed to change rules after the fact, or to apply one set of rules in some precincts and another set of rules in other precincts -- you have all the ingredients you need to steal any election -- if you and a few of your political allies are dishonest enough.
Sadly, some are.
Any public official, legislator, and judicial officer who refuses to enforce reasonable controls to ensure that elections are not stolen shares responsibility for the resulting death of our democracy.
They won't like the resulting soft tyranny either, and their grandchildren will like it even less -- but by then it will be too late.
The court has determined that Franken was popularly elected: http://www.newsy.com/videos/franken_funnyman_or_senator Also, I.D. checks are unconstitutional, they create a class schism, and can lead to unnecessary disenfranchisment, I would compare it to a (very) small degree to literacy tests in the like, which is actually the legal precedent that has been used to keep I.D. checks from being implemented.
