Roger Clegg has An Obvious, If Futile, Point Re: Obama’s Procurement Review
A Washington Post story today begins, “President Obama ordered a government-wide review of federal contracting procedures yesterday,” and continues with the administration’s desire, among other things, to save money and end fraud, waste, and abuse. Well, here’s hoping that there will be some attention given to racial and gender preferences and set-asides, which by definition waste the taxpayers’ money by awarding contracts to those other than the lowest bidder, and which have long been a breeding ground for corruption. Oh, and these programs are unconstitutional, too.
Government spending is usually imbued with waste to begin with, simply due to the lack of ordinary profit-making incentives. Add preferences for politically favored groups, multiple layers of regulation, unionized labor and "living wage" laws, and you have a fiscal nightmare on your hands. These are some of the reasons why Obama can and will waste trillions before he is done.
Senator Obama continues to assemble the most inept team of managers outside the former Soviet Union.
