Thank goodness fiscal watchdogs in the Democratic Party are back in charge of the White House and Congress!
After carefully setting aside a modest trillion dollars on narrowly targeted stimulus spending -- spending that has no connection whatsoever to rewarding Democrat special interest groups . . .
. . . Democrats are now reversing the last eight years of wasteful spending under the Bush Administration with a new, lean spending bill that carefully allocates hard-earned taxpayer dollars to essential projects like . . .
. . . tatoo removal . . . swine odor and manure management . . . Maine lobster . . . La Raza . . and other critically important priorities for America!
"Absolutely we need earmark reform, and when I am president I will go line by line to be sure that we are not spending money unwisely." (Barack Obama, the candidate)
To be honest, it's a little confusing. Some of the items in the spending bill -- and in the stimulus bill too -- sound a lot like "earmarks." Did Obama fall asleep while going line by line over his copy of the bills? Those White House parties can be time consuming!
Whatever the problem is, I'm sure President Obama will take care of it. There is no way that he and Democrats in Congress would allow billions or trillions of taxpayer dollars to be just wasted.
