Under President Bush's leadership, America has avoided another devastating terror attack on U.S. soil after September 11, 2001, while liberating 50 million people from two of the most vicious and brutal regimes on earth: the Taliban in Afghanistan and Saddam Hussein in Iraq.
Those are astonishing accomplishments by any measure. Few would have believed it could have been done as America watched the smoking ruins at the World Trade Center on September 12, 2001.
But for the left, these accomplishments are unimportant, since the omelet could not be made without breaking at least a few eggs. And why not blame President Bush for anti-American sentiment and Muslim terror that pre-dated his administration by decades and will continue long after he is gone? The AP writes:
The U.S. image globally has taken a deep hit during President George W. Bush's two terms in office, primarily because of opposition to the U.S. invasion of Iraq, harsh interrogation of prisoners, the indefinite detention of terrorist suspects at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, and mistreatment of inmates at the Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq.
It's all about Barack Obama, of course, and how he'll magically make the terrorists of the world love America.
It's preposterous, but apparently you can convince yourself of almost anything if you only focus on your own short-sighted political advantage. And so you can pretend to care about the well-being of Muslims around the world, all the while ignoring the fact that President Bush and America's soldiers have liberated 50 million people from horrific tyranny while keeping America safe.
Gateway Pundit has this painful reminder of what life was like under Saddam Hussein:
WARNING: Very graphic
Meanwhile, we have America's left whining about the fact that Barney tunes were played for enemy combatants.
"Torture." Sure.
