As in all wars, propaganda is part of the warfare. The MSM is easily duped within this process, because they are so desperate for stories and pictures, that they publish and broadcast things without due care. Many of the pictures of this war appear misleading, false, or staged. As usual the AP and Reuters are the ones I doubt the most. Here's one I posted yesterday: These are claimed to be "Georgians fleeing". I used it to emphasize how vulnerable Georgians will be when the Russian Army comes through, but I don't want to over-interpret the image. These people look distressed, but I don't know why. Where are they fleeing, and why? There is a fancy shiny car on the right with it's back-up lights on. What's it doing in a poor neighborhood?
The next series seems completely phony. An onlooker stands passively while two "medical people" struggle with a "casualty". They seem to need help, but the onlooker is not helping. There is a "dead" person with a checked shirt and gray slacks. There is a yellow blanket on the far left.
In this next shot the same "dead" man has moved to a position which has more impact because of the roof fire in the building beyond. His clothes remain clean and he appears uninjured. The yellow blanket now partly covers him. Dead people don't need blankets.
Now the "dead" man has moved his position again, and the "mourner" holds his hand up to show "blood", while others pass by unconcerned. Why are they unconcerned?
