Police are trying to determine why a man had a vial of powdered ricin in his room in Las Vegas. The man is in a coma and in critical condition.
According to the news report, Las Vegas police lieutenant Roberts says police don't think foul play is involved, and "the FBI says the case doesn't appear to be terrorism-related."
What questions would you ask if you needed to quickly determine whether this discovery of ricin in Las Vegas is of general concern to other Americans?
I have a few questions for starters: (a) Is there a suicide note? (b) Does the man have any known history of mental illness? (c) Did the man recently lose a relationship or a job? (d) Is the man Arabic or Muslim?
Have I covered the basic questions?
Update 1: Police are reportedly considering the possibility of a murder plot.
Update 2: Or maybe not? Here is a wealth of additional clues. An anarchist book tabbed at a spot with information about ricin, firearms, "several vials of powder," castor beans, pets in the room (one dead), and someone who claims to be a relative and who discovered the ricin. If you need a real-life whodunit to occupy your time, have at it.
