The MSM has an insatiable appetite for scandal, and they will create it if they have to. Here is a trail of their recent wreckage:
– Kobe Bryant is a basketball player who had sex with a stranger who then charged him with rape. She bragged about the event and Kobe’s ‘equipment’ at a party the next evening, but the MSM still milked the story for many many months.
The MSM almost completely ignored the woman’s obvious pride and excitement over the event, instead incessantly reporting other lurid elements of the story, which had the effect of maintaining public interest. This was really a dead story walking, but the MSM kept reporting selective bits and pieces until the case was dismissed on September 1, 2004

– The Israeli MSM stood by while the ex-lover of Israeli President Katsav charged this little old man with forcible and multiple rapes. Her story was obviously implausible, confused and self-contradictory from the get-go, but the media withheld key details. Katsav (labelled a ‘right winger’ by the media) has already been forced to step down from the Presidency (in favour of Shimon Peres, a ‘left-winger’ and MSM favorite). Ex-President Katsav is now about to be absolved of wrong-doing.
Israel’s Attorney-General, Menachem Mazuz, wrote recently of the accuser, “There was evidence that she was obsessively jealous of another employee at the President's office who was close to Katsav... There was evidence that she sent Katsav a love letter and gave him presents.”

– Michael Jackson, a strange but fabulously talented musician likes to sleep in the same bed with kids, so a gold-digging bum got her son to sleep with him so she could take Jackson to the cleaners. The MSM knew she and her story were fake from the beginning, but they withheld the details from the public for months to squeeze more out of the story. Jackson was acquitted of the allegations, and now lives in Bahrain.

CAPTAIN NOWAK
The MSM’s current victim is the ex-astronaut and navy pilot Lisa Nowak. The MSM claims she went nuts in an astronaut love triangle and drove 1000 miles non-stop sitting on diapers to kidnap or kill her love-rival. As usual, the ‘story’ as the MSM tells it is falling apart in court. The ‘diaper’ evidence and a lot of other junk has been thrown out. Now the MSM is down to publicly 'convicting' her of carrying items that most motorists should have in their trunks.
(1) A steel mallet [important for loosening wheel lug nuts]. (2) A folding knife [motorists should carry a jack knife], (3) gloves [changing tires or any minor road repairs get messy]. (4) Six feet of rubber tubing [great for tying the trunk lid down when transporting a bicycle]. (5) A ‘B-B’ hand gun [many Americans carry real guns in their cars, but the B-B gun idea is also good, useful to scare an attacker, but not dangerous if they get it away from you].
Captain Nowak said from the very beginning that she had wanted to talk to her love rival to see if she could resolve things. In my life, I have driven far more than a thousand miles for love. News is slow lately, what with the US victory in Iraq, so Nowak gets hung out to dry to improve ratings.
The Orlando police did not read Nowak her Miranda rights, they were evasive when Nowak asked about an attorney, and interrogated her aggressively, without an attorney present, for many hours when she was more than 24 hours sleep-deprived. The Orlando police wrongly made "direct and implied promises of benefit" to her, vowing to talk to prosecutors on her behalf if she cooperated. Nowak was not even fully aware of what she was accused of.
Orlando police Detective Chris Becton had testified that Nowak was hardly the sleep-deprived, confused suspect she purported to be. He characterized Nowak as a cunning suspect who bargained with information in an interview similar to a 'chess match'. The mug shot above shows her in her fully charged ‘cunning state’, ready to do complex intellectual battle with a posse of police detectives.
I saw a you-tube type clip of Nowak in her holding cell, and the poor woman is exhausted, pacing, curled up on the floor, asking for a lawyer, and crying intermittently, the way grief-stricken people do when their lives fall apart around their ears. She was clearly in a highly stressed, dehydrated, sleep-deprived, and confused state. She had difficulty asking for food.
The MSM should let her have her trial like everyone else, before they destroy her life like this. If she is acquitted, the MSM will drop the story like a stone. Here is an example of the emotionally-rigged, content-free “news reporting” on this case:

Too bad she isn't an illegal alien or accused terrorist. "highly stressed, dehydrated, sleep-deprived"... should be enough to hold a Senate hearing to determine if this constitutes torture.
