The Washington Post joins in the tsk-tsking today over Hillary Clinton's suspicious fundraising with "Dishwashers for Clinton."
But will anything be done about the appearance of corruption in Clinton's campaign?
Not likely.
In today's highly partisan environment, if the federal government took serious steps toward enforcing the campaign finance laws against Hillary Clinton's campaign, partisan shrieks and finger-pointing would explode and the Democratic-Party-controlled Congress would begin convening "oversight" hearings to question and undermine the enforcement process.
I fear that the current White House lacks the courage to undertake such a battle, even though such law enforcement clearly is necessary if the restrictions are to have any meaning at all.
The campaign finance laws have become a joke, and arguably an unconstitutional joke at that. They deter only the law-abiding. For those whose respect for the law is minimal and tentative, they pose no obstacle whatsoever.
Here's something to ponder:
Who will enforce the campaign finance laws if Hillary Clinton is elected?
Do you trust Hillary Clinton to enforce those laws impartially?
