James Lileks got me laughing with his mini-review of the 1947 film noir “Lady in the Lake,” based on a 1943 novel by Raymond Chandler. Robert Montgomery directed and starred in the movie.
As Lileks points out, the movie's femme fatale, played by Audrey Totter, really knew how to glare:

That last glare has a disturbing touch of insanity, which is why I've settled on Glare No. 4 here.
So just how good is Audrey Totter's glare? I had to Google it for comparison: glare. Nope, none of the "glare" pictures on page 1 or 2 even comes close.
How about a Google search for glaring? A few better glares among the search results, but still nothing to give Audrey Totter a serious run for her money.
I liked this one, though:
