Would you let Iran's president, or anyone associated with him, anywhere near George Bush?
You know -- given that Iran routinely threatens "Death to America" at public ceremonies, and given that Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has openly called for a world without America; and given that Iran has recently mastered nuclear enrichment?
The question is not purely hypothetical, because Ahmadinejad is traveling to the United Nations with the intent of addressing the General Assembly, on the same day that President Bush is speaking to the U.N.
To add to the immediacy of the question, Ahmadinejad is demanding a debate with Bush, preferably at the General Assembly.
The potential for an assassination attempt is obvious. It's not just Ahmadinejad we'd have to worry about. It's his armed security contingent as well.
In my role as an unpaid, completely unsolicited adviser to the White House, I offer this recommendation to President Bush:
No.
No.
And heck no.
