That's the conclusion we can fairly reach today, given that the Democrats' election-year bid for a vote of "no confidence" in Donald Rumsfeld was swiftly defeated.
But I'm sure Al Qaeda enjoyed the Democrats' maneuver. Nothing like public infighting among the infidels to warm the heart of any jihadist. Perhaps we'll hear about in the next threatening diatribe from Osama Bin Laden, or in the next jihadi recruitment video.
Imagine a football game in which a group of fans on our own side of the stadium spent most of the game booing our own coach and assistant coaches, calling them "chimps" and liars and incompetents, and questioning their every move. What do you imagine such constant attacks would to to the morale of our own team? Would it help our chances for victory, or undermine them?
For a continuation of this analogy, read here.
I rarely put it so bluntly, but there's no other way to say this:
In their pursuit of power, the Democrats are currently dealing out poison.
