From Reuters:
LOS ANGELES - Pro-immigration activists say a nationwide boycott and marches planned for May 1 will flood Americas's streets with millions of Latinos to demand amnesty for illegal immigrants and shake the ground under Congress as it tackles reform. But while such a massive turnout could make for the largest protests since the civil rights era of the 1960s, not all Latinos, nor their leaders, were comfortable with such militancy -- fearing a backlash in Middle America.
In my opinion, that fear is well supported.
Think about how this plays: First they break our laws to arrive here. Then they deliberately shut down our streets and cities?
Not a good move.
why 1 may?
cinco de mayo ain't 'til 5 may.
wunder what's in the hopper for cinco?
oh, that's right, cinco is a gringo holiday.

I say let them protest in the streets. The illegal's are already law breakers so lets give them a chance to be seen and picked up. If they were worried about how middle America sees them they would have come to this country the right way in the first place and wouldn't be demanding to have the rights of Americans with out first becomming Americans!
