Note to the left: The levee of inaccurate anti-Bush Katrina coverage overtopped a long time ago. But now the levee has breached and the floodwaters are rising. Evacuate! Evacuate!
The attack from the left on President Bush over Hurricane Katrina has been based on the premise that the White House deployed federal aid to New Orleans too slowly in light of what the federal government knew or should have known. Now it turns out that Louisiana Governor Kathleen Blanco is responsible for even more of that delay than initially reported. Gov. Blanco inaccurately assured President Bush that there had been no breaches of any levies after noon on August 29th, even though a breach of a levy had already been reported to the National Weather Service by 9:12 am. that day.
It's hard to fathom how Governor Blanco could not have known that no levy had been breached three hours after the fact on August 29th. Perhaps Gov. Blanco was too busy polishing her public image (La. Gov. Kathleen Blanco: Does This Dress Make Me Look Narcissistic?) or planning her office renovations (Billion Dollar Blanco Is at It Again).
Speaking of a delayed response -- how many months have the leftist attackers had to get the timeline for their attacks on President Bush right? It's been over six months now. Let's compare that to the amount of time it took the federal government to mobilize and send massive amounts of aid to New Orleans. According to this CNN report, seven urban search and rescue task forces were already deployed by FEMA and in the region before the hurricane struck. Troops and large amounts of aid were already well on their way by August 31st, within less than 48 hours.
So President Bush is expected to have perfect knowledge and instantaneous deployment of massive amounts of resources to a hurricane region.
While leftist media still are still struggling with inaccuracies in their attack story six months after the hurricane. One shudders to think what the Hurricane Katrina response would have looked like if they were in charge.
