Iran is starting up its nuclear centifuges -- perhaps 5,000 of them, according to a new report.
Meanwhile, the civilized world keeps spinning too -- in the same old circles that have gotten it nowhere except into danger that increases daily.
Oh, yes, the news media report daily that international leaders are "concerned" about Iran's hostility and nuclear ambitions. Some days, they're even "troubled" or downright "scornful."
But "Military action is not on our agenda, and I don't believe it's on anyone else's agenda," according to Jack Straw.
No, we definitely cannot use force to stop Iran, and we should be sure to tell Iran that early and often.
No, we must keep asking nicely for Iran to stop.
This seems to be the plan: If we ask nicely about a hundred more times, Iran might have to pause its work for a few seconds each time to say "no" again. That way we can buy maybe an extra month or so before Israel (or any other country of Iran's choice) is "wiped off the map."
Some sort of strong action is clearly called for, though.
The world community might have to have a "consultation to consider further steps."
