There I was, reading a NYT Op-Ed on eel, and enjoying it, and wondering if it was possible, and (being an eel fan) thinking about how yummy eel is in sushi (unlike most sushi, eel is served warm and fully-cooked with a barbecue-like sauce brushed onto it). But sure enough, as I got to the end of the article, and with a great screeching of mental tires against the asphalt of reality, the article veered to the left and crashed. It turns out that per the NYT, the eel is yet another species that, in our bankrupt country, we must re-engineer our lives for, while somewhere around one-in-five Americans is unemployed or underemployed, and while we are in debt up to our ears and still spending and printing money like it is going out of style. Oh, and with the desolation of California's central valley for the delta smelt fresh in our minds.
Good grief. Can the NYT be any more tone-deaf? Does every article have to have mind-numbing leftist (or just plain country-crippling) thought tacked onto it or built into it? So, yet again, I regret having read something from the NYT. I should have known not to click. :P
