Four of the Five Oldest Living People on Earth Are Americans -- We Must Be Doing Something Right
You'd better believe it. As of today, four of the five oldest people on earth are Americans.
Oldest on Earth
1. Gertrude Baines, 114, Los Angeles; born April 6, 18942. Beatrice Farve, 113, Georgia; April 30, 1895
4. Mary Josephine Ray, 113, New Hampshire; May 17, 1895
5. Olivia Patricia Thomas, 113, New York; June 29, 1895
By the way, the next five in the top 10 include two more Americans and three more Japanese.
I think it's important to stop and think about this fact because we are so often treated to doom and gloom about America's healthcare and about living conditions in the United States, by those whose agenda is to enact costly new programs that would, in the end, actually reduce our quality of life.
Before we turn our U.S. healthcare system upside down and destroy our economy in pursuit of hope and change, let's try to keep in mind that America must still be doing many things right.
Despite all our troubles, we are still a nation where it's possible to live out a long, healthy, peaceful life. We have plenty of living examples of that fact.
