Organization of 50,000 Physicists Agrees: NO Consensus on Global Warming
Here's the news, hot off the wires:
The American Physical Society, an organization representing nearly 50,000 physicists, has reversed its stance on climate change and is now proclaiming that many of its members disbelieve in human-induced global warming. The APS is also sponsoring public debate on the validity of global warming science. The leadership of the society had previously called the evidence for global warming "incontrovertible."
In a posting to the APS forum, editor Jeffrey Marque explains,"There is a considerable presence within the scientific community of people who do not agree with the IPCC conclusion that anthropogenic CO2 emissions are very probably likely to be primarily responsible for global warming that has occurred since the Industrial Revolution."
The APS is opening its debate with the publication of a paper by Lord Monckton of Brenchley, which concludes that climate sensitivity -- the rate of temperature change a given amount of greenhouse gas will cause -- has been grossly overstated by IPCC modeling. A low sensitivity implies additional atmospheric CO2 will have little effect on global climate.
But - but - but -- what about all the radical lifestyle changes we're all going to have to make just to survive?
What about all the expensive laws we're in the process of enacting?
What about THE ENTIRE AGENDA?
Now scientists are going to have to re-open the entire debate on global warming?
What are politicians going to do in the meantime? Will they have to put all their economy-killing laws on hold?
Facts can be so inconvenient.

Gina you're right - facts are so inconvenient. Like this fact:
So which "Organization of 50,000 Physicists" are you talking about?
Get your facts straight, even if they're inconvenient.

Can you say 104?
That would be 104 billion dollars expected to be spent by consumers on green products in this year alone.

I once heard of a glass store owner who's business was falling off. So one evening, to 'stimulate the economy', he set out to break the windows of other store owners in town. The next morning, he had several calls to replace broken windows.
Global Warming is nothing more than an economic ploy to create a crisis, then provide goods and services to alleviate the crisis. How 'bout it Ralph, need a window?

When the title of an article is a lie, why believe anything else in the article? When someone answers with a complete non-sequitor, it's clear they have nothing of sense to add.

I'm sorry, but a non-sequitor would be to discuss the price of rice in China. The point that seemed to allude Mr. Kramden is simply the credibility of global warming once again comes into question when 1130 top executives around the world consider the created value in selling 'green' goods and services, and are modifying their business prospective to accommodate the potential; or was the link provided allusive as well?

Ralph Kramden, you are quoting a position of the APS from eight months ago (November 18, 2007), which does not contradict the current news at all. The latest report discloses that there is NOT consensus among the 50,000 members of the APS, and that there is significant room for doubt about the theory of global warming within the organization, which means that the debate is reopening, if it ever closed. Trying to fall back to where the organization was in November 2007 doesn't address the fact that the evidence is conflicting. Many APS members not believe that the theory of global warming is accurate, and have noted errors in the data.
