"They must as well identify and fund the necessary research and analysis necessary to win wider agreement at Copenhagen that can be taken forward at the Italy G8 in June 2009." [It is scientifically unethical to bias or falsify research results to make them support a particular political agenda.]
I think Blair believes this stuff. He must be completely ignorant of the mountain of data which disputes his statements.
Clearly we have failed as global warming critics. What we have here is a failure to communicate the truth to the key thought leaders of democracies. How could we have done such a bad job?
Yes, that’ right, I blame us, the global warming skeptics. How could Blair be ignorant of all of our voices? What have we done wrong, that we could be so ignored?
Gina Cobb and others represent what used to be called “The Silent Majority”. For the first time since the Left seized control of the MSM, the mainstream political center has found a voice. But clearly Blair is oblivious to us, and we shall be the victims of his ignorance.
We are in trouble. In Canada, our first carbon tax goes into effect in July 1 in British Columbia, our westernmost province. A federal Carbon tax is looming, and will be implemented if the Liberals regain a majority in the federal government.
Much more must be done before we are taken seriously. Here is how bad it is. The graph is a bell-curve that shows the spectrum of political beliefs. The small red area represents the extreme left. The small black area represents the extreme right. One can argue about where to set the boundaries for right and left. However, no matter how one sets them, the political majority is in the middle. The tail is wagging the dog. That tiny red tail is wagging the big dog of the majority.
The silent majority is still mainly silent, and are doing little or nothing about it. The responsibility falls upon us, the vocal center to think of something that can stop the Left from choking the life out of the center. Unless we do, we will be doomed to decades more of this stifling Socialism/Marxism/Communism that constantly strives to destroy free-enterprise and democracy.
Apparently so. It works in the echo chambers of the left. Why not trot the venom out for a nationwide audience, just in time for the 4th of July?
"But McCain succumbed to torture and made a propaganda film for the enemy!"
So? Every man is capable of breaking under torture. The relevant question is, "Has John McCain made enemy propaganda since his release?"
The left made propaganda for Vietnam throughout the war without being tortured. Barack Obama is arguably making propaganda right now for America's current enemies like Iraq, Iran and Venezuela without having ever having been tortured and without having bothered to join the military -- as are the leftists who are attacking John McCain right now.
The left is all too quick to take sides against their own country, even to this date:
"I wouldn't characterize anybody who fought in Vietnam as a war hero," said Medea Benjamin, a co-founder of the theatrical anti-war group Code Pink. "In 23 bombing sorties, there must have been civilians that were killed and there's no heroism to that."
That sort of attack only demonstrates the left's contempt for America's men and women who have served honorably in the military. It also shows a complete lack of judgment and total obsession with winning the upcoming presidential election at any cost.
Nobody who served in Vietnam is a war hero? What folly, and how convenient. Wasn't it just four short years ago that John F. Kerry, who served for a few months in Vietnam, was being promoted as a war hero by the left?
Which raises the question of exactly how much "command experience" Barack Obama has.
Jim Geraghty has a few thoughts on Wesley Clark's attack on McCain -- he's the seventh Democrat to go after McCain's military record -- and on Clark's own military track record, including this:
From one of my favorite articles, a profile of Clark: "Interviews with a wide variety of current and retired military officials reveal that Clark was disliked by only three groups: Those whom ranked above him in the chain of command whom he ignored, his peers at the same rank whom he lied to, and those serving beneath him whom he micromanaged. Other than that, everyone liked him."
As Iran moves relentlessly toward full nuclear weapons capability, as the Taliban attempts to reassert itself in Afghanistan, and as numerous threats await the next president, I will not be looking to the likes of Code Pink or Barack ("Retreat") Obama to save America from disaster.
The left is slapping at McCain with wet noodles. It is, they, not John McCain, who come out looking foolish.
Daniel Pipes has pulled the current evidence together in once place. Key points:
Obama's Muslim birth father: Barack Hussein Obama, Sr. (1936–1982) was a Muslim who named his boy Barack Hussein Obama, Jr. Only Muslim children are named "Hussein".
Obama's Muslim Indonesian family: His stepfather, Lolo Soetoro, was also a Muslim. In fact, as Obama's half-sister, Maya Soetoro-Ng explained to Jodi Kantor of the New York Times: "My whole family was Muslim, and most of the people I knew were Muslim." An Indonesian publication, the Banjarmasin Post reports a former classmate, Rony Amir, recalling that "All the relatives of Barry's father were very devout Muslims."
The Catholic school: Nedra Pickler of the Associated Press reports that "documents showed he enrolled as a Muslim" while at a Catholic school during first through third grades. Kim Barker of the Chicago Tribune confirms that Obama was "listed as a Muslim on the registration form for the Catholic school." A blogger who goes by "An American Expat in Southeast Asia" found that "Barack Hussein Obama was registered under the name ‘Barry Soetoro' serial number 203 and entered the Franciscan Asisi Primary School on 1 January 1968 and sat in class 1B. … Barry's religion was listed as Islam."
The public school: Paul Watson of the Los Angeles Times learned from Indonesians familiar with Obama when he lived in Jakarta that he "was registered by his family as a Muslim at both schools he attended." Haroon Siddiqui of the Toronto Star visited the Jakarta public school Obama attended and found that "Three of his teachers have said he was enrolled as a Muslim." Although Siddiqui cautions that "With the school records missing, eaten by bugs, one has to rely on people's shifting memories," he cites only one retired teacher, Tine Hahiyari, retracting her earlier certainty about Obama's being registered as a Muslim.
Koran class: In his autobiography, Dreams of My Father, Obama relates how he got into trouble for making faces during Koranic studies, thereby revealing he was a Muslim, for Indonesian students in his day attended religious classes according to their faith. Indeed, Obama still retains knowledge from that class: Nicholas D. Kristof of the New York Times, reports that Obama "recalled the opening lines of the Arabic call to prayer, reciting them [to Kristof] with a first-rate accent."
Mosque attendance: Obama's half-sister recalled that the family attended the mosque "for big communal events." Watson learned from childhood friends that "Obama sometimes went to Friday prayers at the local mosque." Barker found that "Obama occasionally followed his stepfather to the mosque for Friday prayers." One Indonesia friend, Zulfin Adi, states that Obama "was Muslim. He went to the mosque. I remember him wearing a sarong" (a garment associated with Muslims).
Piety: Obama himself says that while living in Indonesia, a Muslim country, he "didn't practice [Islam]," implicitly acknowledging a Muslim identity. Indonesians differ in their memories of him. One, Rony Amir, describes Obama as "previously quite religious in Islam."
It seems extremely clear that Obama had a Muslim childhood, and has lied to cover up that fact.
