Cindy McCain Will Soon Be Attacked
By DemocracyRules
Cindy McCain is in the news today regarding statements she made recently about patriotism. She seems to be profiling herself vis a vis Michelle Obama's previous statements bout being ashamed of America. This will probably lead to leftist mud-slinging, so I thought this bio of Cindy might be interesting.
In a thumbnail, Cindy McCain is a rich, smart, beautiful, well-educated woman who married for love and got the man and the family she wanted. She did at least one very stupid thing in her life.
She was born Cindy Hensley in about 1954 in Phoenix, Arizona, the daughter of James and Marguerite Hensley. She was an only child. Her father founded Hensley & Company, one of the largest Anheuser-Busch distributors in the nation. She earned an undergraduate degree in Education and a Masters Degree in Special Education at USC in L.A. (University of Southern California). After graduating she taught at Agua Fria High School in Avondale, Arizona.
Leftists seem to dislike Cindy as a privileged rich, smart, beautiful, ambitious well-educated woman who married for love and got the man and the family she wanted. Cindy was even a cheerleader.
It's really the Republicanism the Left hates. They lovingly praise Caroline Kennedy even though she and Cindy have similar backgrounds of wealth and privilege.
Leftists seem to prefer dark, twisted personal histories. Marx lived a middle-class life in England, excoriated his patron country for its Bourgeoisies values, lived off donations from Engels, and had a long-standing sexual relationship with his maid. He spent most of his adult life writing political philosophy that turned out to be almost completely untrue.
Communism has led to the death of approximately 94 million people.
Of course Cindy's life all looks easy but she has had her share of ups and downs. Research clearly shows that wealth does not produce more life-happiness than a moderate income does. Looking beneath the image you find a real person with a real beating heart.
Cindy met John McCain when he was separated from Carol, his first wife. McCain was not rich and he was 20 years older, but he was very handsome, an ex-fighter pilot, the son of an Admiral, very well-traveled, very smart, and very ambitious. He was as healthy as one can be after years of detention and torture. He was a famous decorated war hero, and he was a very likable man. He may have been suffering PTSD when they met.
They married in 1980 after McCain completed his divorce with Carol. McCain at that time was the U.S. Navy liaison officer to the United States Senate. He had become interested in politics and had begun to think about running for office. At the wedding, Sen. Bill Cohen, R-Maine, was his best man and Sen. Gary Hart, D-Colo. was a groomsman.
Through hard work and a bit of luck McCain was elected to the House in 1982. In 1986 he was elected to the Senate.
Cindy and John have had four children: Meghan, John IV, James and Bridget. Cindy is also step-mother to the three children from John McCain's first marriage, Doug, Andy and Sidney. James joined the Marine Corps in 2006.
Cindy has devoted herself to helping others in her adult life, and in 1988 she founded the non-profit American Voluntary Medical Team (AVMT), which sent doctors and nurses to disaster-struck third-world countries. Cindy met her adopted daughter Bridget in Bangladesh and she and John adopted Bridget after Cindy helped her come to the U.S. for medical treatment.
In the late 1980's Cindy developed chronic pain problems and became dependent on pain medication in about 1989. At one point she began to divert pain medications from the AVMT. The diversion of prescription painkillers violates federal law, and she avoided prosecution by negotiating an agreement with the U.S. Attorney's office to pay financial restitution and seek treatment for her drug addiction. She later issued a statement: "Although my conduct did not result in compromising any missions of AMVT, my actions were wrong, and I regret them."
Cindy became involved in the family business after her father’s death. She has been the chairwoman of Hensley & Company since 2000.
Cindy suffered a stroke in April 2004 related to hypertension, but she appears to have fully recovered. She serves on the Board of Directors for several non-profit groups, including CARE, Operation Smile, and the HALO Trust.
The McCains are among Arizona's most prominent families.
