The Dem Debate? Sorry I Missed It

The left is going crazy over the Democratic debate last night.  Apparently both Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton came off looking less than stellar, with Obama looking especially tired, weak and negative.

I missed the whole thing so I'll have to draw my conclusions by indirect means, but the depression from Obama supporters is palpable.  As usual, it translates into rage.  The target du jour for the left's disproportionate fury is ABC, which hosted the debates.  Apparently its questions weren't the usual softball questions the left has come to know and love.  In fact, they touched upon several of Obama's recent gaffes.

So we have posts like these all over the leftist websites:

Greg Mitchell, Huffington Post, The Debate: A Shameful Night for the U.S. Media.  Mitchell is unhappy that Obama's bitterness was the topic of discussion, rather than, say, the Iraq war (as if that topic hasn't already been beaten to death)

Talk Left, Post-PA Debate Thread: I:  Says the debate was "horrendous and extremely unfair to Obama," but also takes issue with a Keith Olbermann criticizing the debate, on grounds that NBC's debate moderation was even worse.  Bonus points for adding that "Keith Olbermann is the most shameless ridiculous hack on TV"

Daily Kos, Keep turning up the HEAT on ABC... New Info  The behind-the-scenes effort to harangue ABC into treating Obama with kid gloves

And from the right:

Mark Hemingway, The Corner at National Review Online, And the Winner Is . . .

McCain by a landslide! A reader writes in:

I wasn't going to watch the debate but after reading the posts on the corner I changed the channel.

Watching the debate I feel great to be an Republican. Obama is just horrible tonight. Did he not eat his wheaties?  He's negative, stumbling over his words and can't help but double speak on each question.

More voices:

Marc Ambinder at The Atlantic:  Keeping the score card, there's no way Obama could have fared worse.

Andrew Sullivan, The Daily Dish:  It was a lifeless, exhausted, drained and dreary Obama we saw tonight. I've seen it before when he is tired, but this was his worst performance yet on national television. He seemed crushed and unable to react.
