The Super Tuesday ballots are still being tallied in many states. Fox News has state-by-state totals here.
Mark Steyn, noting the numerous southern states going to Huckabee, concludes that the South has explicitly rejected Romney. True, but in fairness the South has also largely rejected McCain in favor of Huckabee. In any event, McCain has an impressive 530 delegates nationwide at this point, to Romney's 219. (Update as of Wednesday morning: McCain has 604 to Romney's 244; delegates are still being tallied).
So far, with many votes still to be counted, Hillary seems to be beating Obama in California. According to the California Secretary of State, with 33% of the precincts reporting, Clinton has 54% of the vote and Obama has 37%. California should be one of Obama's strongest states. If Obama loses to Clinton in California, this does not bode well for his ultimate prospects. Still, at this moment, the gap between Clinton and Obama in terms of total delegates nationwide is not that great: Clinton has 764 delegates to Obama's 716. (Update as of Wednesday morning: Clinton has 900 to Obama's 824; delegates are still being tallied).
