I was saddened to learn on Monday that Ed Morrissey is shutting down his excellent weblog, Captain's Quarters. More here. Ed Morrissey is one of the people who has helped to define the art of political blogging, and he's done it with dignity and class. It's no accident that Captain's Quarters has been on my blogroll since Day One.
But not to worry. Ed will be joining Hot Air, where Michelle Malkin has already given Ed a warm welcome.
So the fun will continue unabated -- but possibly with fewer sailing ship analogies.
It seems fitting to end with a sailing quotation or too:
"Anyone can hold the helm when the sea is calm." (Syrus Pubilius)
"The pessimist complains about the wind; the optimist expects it to change; the realist adjusts the sails." (William Arthur Ward)
"If the highest aim of a captain were to preserve his ship, he would keep it in port forever." (Saint Thomas Aquinas)
