Craven, But Honest About It
Courtesy of Moonbattery, Lawrence O'Donnell explains why he attacks Mormons but says nothing about murderous Muslims:
Moonbat Lawrence O'Donnell is famous for unhinged rants against the Swift Boat Vets and more recently, Mormonism, which he denounces as "demented" and "ridiculous." But you won't hear him ranting against Muslims. He explained why in an interview with Hugh Hewitt:
O'Donnell: [The Book of Mormon is] an insane document produced by a madman who was a criminal and a rapist. […] He comes from a long line of extreme rapists of teenage children.
Hewitt: [W]ould you say the same things about Mohammed as you just said about Joseph Smith?
O'Donnell: Oh, well, I'm afraid of what the… that's where I'm really afraid. I would like to criticize Islam much more than I do publicly, but I'm afraid for my life if I do. […] Mormons are the nicest people in the world. They're not going to ever…
Hewitt: So you can be bigoted towards Mormons, because they'll just send you a strudel.
O'Donnell: They'll never take a shot at me. Those other people, I'm not going to say a word about them.
Hewitt: They'll send you a strudel. The Mormons will bake you a cake and be nice to you.
O'Donnell: I agree.
Van Helsing at Moonbattery adds:
Credit where it's due: like many on the Left, O'Donnell is an obnoxious bigot, a sniveling coward, a dhimmi, a bully and a fool, but unlike most of his liberal elite brethren, he can be honest on occasion.
I also respect Mr. O'Donnell's moment of truthfulness on this point, but has he heard nothing of dignity, honor, fairness, justice and courage?
Singling out one group of people for unfair attack just because you can -- while saying nothing about a far greater evil because that evil is great enough to come after you personally -- is about as noble as pushing children out of a lifeboat so you can have a seat yourself.
Mr. O'Donnell, you may think your hide is safe as long as you say nothng about murderous Islamists, but what have you contributed to the world?
To remain silent in the face of the horrors of terrorism while condemning those who live decent, quiet lives of service to others is a much larger form of dishonesty.
