The Horror! Voter Asked to Show Photo I.D.!
In a horrifying development, a voter in Missouri was asked to show photo I.D. to show that she was exactly who she claimed to be!
"I'm guessing this may be happening in other parts of the state," warned Secretary of State Robin Carnahan, a Democrat who had opposed Republican efforts to mandate a photo ID in Missouri.
She said that a worker at the St. Louis Election Board asked her three times to show photo ID when she went to cast an absentee ballot Friday.
Carnahan said that she tried to explain a photo ID was not necessary, but that the election worker replied that she was instructed to ask for one anyway. Carnahan said she eventually was allowed to vote without displaying a photo identification.
"To have that experience personally was very troubling," she said.
It's a nightmare! Next thing you know, they'll want photo I.D. to drive a car or cash a check!
We must not allow demands for reliable proof of identity to corrupt our elections! We must pretend that we all still live in small towns where everybody knows everybody, and nobody would think to lie about who they are in order to influence the outcome of an election.
We must say NO! to demands for photo identification from voters! That, my friends, is the only way we can have any confidence that the voices of all the people -- whether living or dead, whether fictitious or not, whether citizens of this great nation or not -- are truly heard.
