The Mainstream Media Contribution to the War Effort

Quick -- name three major things the mainstream media have done to help in the war on terror:

Stumped?

Not surprising. 

Not only have the mainstream media failed to help in the war on terror, but they've actively undermined the war on terror at almost every turn. 

It is not an exaggeration to state that on nearly a daily basis the mainstream media have published and broadcast propaganda attacking America itself, its war planners, and its commander in chief, or actively favoring terrorists like those detained at Guantanamo Bay.  The mainstream media have also gone out of their way to disclose secret and classified programs that were succeeding in hunting down terrorists.

Why?  Because, ever since the shock of September 11, 2001 wore off, the mainstream media have been fighting their own partisan war:   The War on Bush.  Mac Johnson makes out the case very well in Human Events Online (via Lucianne).

While the rest of us live in a post-9/11 world in which we are keenly aware of the genuinely evil forces arrayed against us and all decent civilized nations, the mainstream media are still attempting to unwind the 2000 election, the 2004 election, and Clinton's impeachment.  In fact, that's pretty much the sum total of their "to do" list.  Supporting America's survival as a nation in the face of terrorists and tyrannical rogue states that are actively planning how to kill us all is apparently secondary -- if it makes the list at all.

You wouldn't think of the men and women of the MSM as suicidal, and yet, that's exactly how they act when it comes to GW.

The Nation be damned, they're going to destroy GW if they possibly can. If a lot of Americans get killed or injured because of that, well, that's GW's fault, too!
