Fearless Prediction: More Trouble for Patrick Kennedy

I know I'm going way, way out on a limb with this one (not really) -- but I predict more serious trouble ahead for Patrick Kennedy.

He has too many problems, with too little accountability, and seems to be completely adrift.

Nobody is beyond redemption, but Kennedy seems to be at the point where even his excuses need excuses.

Update later 5/5/06:  Kennedy has now decided to bow to reality and enroll in a substance abuse treatment program.  This of course does not mean that he is absolved of responsibility for what he has already done.  Yet it may be his only path to recovery.  May he sincerely seek and find it.

Kennedy also plans to continue to run for re-election in November.  If I were in his district, I would be unlikely to vote for anyone, even an incumbent, whose recovery from substance abuse will be at most six months old by election day.  Kennedy also has a prior history of relapse.  He may be trustworthy again some day, but that day will not arrive for a long while.

I wish no further pain and suffering to the Kennedy Family, even though some of the pain is self-inflicted. I do wish Patrick would take some time off and deal with his demon. It is apparent that he is unable to whip that demon, so he should remove himself from the public eye. Instead of basking in the limelight of the ecology movement, face time on TV and a willing bunch of liberal lackeys to make excuses for him; he should do some soul searching.
I would like to see him turn it all around, but not publicly.
He also has to come to grips with the fact, he is a poor liar. A poor liar stands a chance of redemption, a liar like his father never will.

His father is what I call a bold face liar, they thrive on lying to hurt those they disagree with.

Patrick is not beyond hope. His life is salvageable. He can be a very resonable and still passionate person, I once heard him interviewed by Sean Hannity, and he was pleasant, and articulate.

PS. Gina, In the past few weeks I have tried several different times to leave comments here, all without success. So I tried loading your page in MS Internet Explorer, and Bingo....Maybe it is my firefox browser, but it may be worthwhile checking into this.
