France Surrenders . . . Again
French president Jacques Chirac has surrendered to weeks of protests and strikes, announcing that he will "replace" the new law that would have reduced high unemployment rates among French youth by making it easier for companies to fire workers under age 26. The law would have made it easier for employers to hire youths by reducing the risk of hiring inexperienced, untried workers.
Does anyone in France have a spine, or is it France forever doomed to be the doormat of Europe?
Meanshile, does anyone foolishly think the latest French retreat will actually help any of these youths get jobs?
Update 4/10/06: Chez Diva calls it proof that in France "Temper Tantrums Work" and recommends that somebody find an adult to take care of all those children and Chirac. The Gateway Pundit has more commentary and photos on France's latest surrender.

Will the French grow spines? Heck, Gina, didn't you know that in the blogosphere, they are known by the epithet "cheese-eating surrender monkeys"?
