Dems to America: The Dog Ate My Plan
In advance of the November 2006 Congressional elections, the Democrats say they want to share their plan with the American people.
Just one little problem:
They don't have a plan.
They are so busy second-guessing President Bush that they forgot to come up with any better plan. And now that they sit down and actually try to write one, they are discovering that some of them are on one side of an issue, and others are on the opposite side. To some, that might suggest that perhaps the current president has struck the right balance on some of these tough issues . . . but of course that won't do for the Dems.
The Democrats originally said they would have a plan by last November so that the American people would have a year to think about it before the elections.
Then they put off announcing the plan until January. (Because they had yet to agree on what the plan would be.)
Then they put it off again. Twice.
Now they hope to have it in "a few weeks."
But some of them, like Charles Schumer, are now trying to find an excuse to put off announcing the plan until this summer, so the American people won't have as much time to think about it before they vote in November.
You think I'm making this up?
Sadly, I'm not.
