Muslim Cleric Offers $1 Million to Kill Cartoonist
A Muslim "prayer leader" (I guess that makes him an imam), Mohammed Yousaf Qureshi, has offered $1 million to anyone who kills the cartoonist of the prophet Mohammed. Actually, Qureshi said the mosque and his religious school would give $25,000 and a car, while a local jewelers' association would give another $1 million.
"This is a unanimous decision by all imams (prayer leaders) of Islam that whoever insults the prophet deserves to be killed and whoever will take this insulting man to his end, will get this prize," Qureshi said.
Qureshi did not name any cartoonist in his announcement. He did not appear aware that 12 different people had drawn the pictures. (But needless to say, he will not let a little ignorance stand in his way.)
Maybe if Mohammed Yousaf Qureshi is looking for the creator of the most offensive Mohammed images, he could start with Imam Ahmad Abu Laban.
Imam Ahmad Abu Laban apparently snuck at least three additional images which HAD NEVER been published in any media source into the materials he used to "create awareness" about the Danish cartoons. Those images included a cartoon of Mohammad as a pedophile demon, Mohammed with a pig snout, and a praying Muslim being raped by a dog. Nice, huh?
Oh, by the way -- the Mohammed with a pig snout turned out to be a recycled picture of a citizen at a French pig-squealing contest. (Details at Gateway Pundit.)
I realize that some of the original cartoons of Mohammed were offensive to many Muslims, but the disgusting pictures deliberately circulated by Imam Ahmad Abu Laban were even worse. And strange as it may seem, I find solicitation of murder even more offensive. Criminal, in fact.
According to news reports, Pakistani police had already "confined the former leader of an Islamic militant group to his home to prevent him from addressing supporters over the cartoons, amid fears he could incite violence, after riots this week killed five people." Well, that didn't work out very well, did it?
One Arab World has some immediate action steps for everyone to take to protest this criminal act:
"Even in Pakistan that is illegal. That man should be arrested at once and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. His assets should be frozen immediately.
"Here is a directorate of almost all Pakistani missions and embassies. Call what’s local to you and demand this mans arrest.
"If you are in America write a letter to your rep. Anyone can also call the World Bank and ask them to consider this before increasing aid to $750 million.
Most importantly, Muslims ask your Imams to condemn this in his next sermon."I’m on my way now to go pray at my mosque in Cambridge and that is exactly what I am going to do."
