If you put five or so American flags behind you, raise your hands like a saint, and are photographed from below so that you appear to be eight feet tall, does that make your disparagement of the ability of the U.S. armed forces to win in Iraq more credible or less unpatriotic?
Does it matter if the advice you gave a previous American president to cut and run (advice to Clinton to get out of Somalia before the mission was successfully completed) led to disaster when it was followed and embolded Osama Bin Laden to launch new attacks on America such as the September 11 attack?

My caption: Does saying the U.S. Army is "broken, worn out" sound better with all these flags behind me?

Please see my blog regarding Murtha and Somalia. It's not, in my opinion, as the record shows, accurate that Black Down was the catalyst for Murtha to advise Clinton to withdraw from Somalia. He never wanted them there from the beginning, seeing it as a humanitarian operation that would turn quickly into a military operation in which we would get bogged down.
