Saddam's Trial Begins--And the Poor Dictator Has No Pen!
The trial of tyrant Saddam Hussein began today, sort of, with complaints from the former dictator that the elevator didn't work, he was guarded by "foreign guards," and -- gasp! -- he had no pen!
Mr. Hussein's latest suffering really puts into perspective what he himself did to the people of Dujail in revenge for an assassination attempt on Saddam in 1982, when he ordered people who had nothing to do with the assassination attempt killed. Their "crime" was that they lived in the town where the attack took place.
A snippet of the transcript of today's trial proceedings is at Captain's Quarters. More exciting details from the Associated Press.
The trial was adjourned until December 5th. I'm sure we'll learn then of even more indignities suffered by the brave Hussein.
